Yes, a domain that can have a relevant site topic is good. Made up words have less value that real dictionary words.

FreeSoftware.com > Yubajuba.com

Short domains will get more typein traffic than longer domains:

FreeGames.com > ASiteDedicatedToFreeGames.com

basically when you have a good site most of the new visitors come by word of mouth from existing users and shorter and memorable names make this whole process smoother

Of course a relevant site name makes the name more valuable! Amazon.com had to try really hard to brand their site, whereas people are likely to find coat.com by themselves...
