To be short, and blunt, it sucks!
All IE versions are horrible.

Why...?

Well, for starters, IE is to prone to spyware and adware.
Also, I do not run Windows on my home pc, so, using it is a major pain in the axx.
If they decided to make it a cross platform browser, Maybe I would consider trying it again, and giving them a fair review.

To bring up the main the main discussion:

Do you hate IE because its Microsoft? ( and they actually own the OS market?! )
IE is most prone because most people use IE as such its the best target for a hacker.

To be honest we run on our hosting machines only FREE BSD but on my
desktop at the office or at home I always use Windows XP...
simple, easy to use and its more of less a way of controlling your computer...

I do use Mozilla Firefox more then IE but thats because:
- I love the tab structure
- I find my Mozilla version a bit more stable then my IE. (never actually tested it myself)
- I love the small search area on the right side

It has nothing to do with Microsoft in gerneral, Windows is a very usefull OS for many people, but others as myself just dont like it [I come from the DOS genaration, and prefer *nix based OS]. Its not that I have a hate Microsoft, its that I don't like how they do not even try to appeal to others. If they did, I am sure my opinion of some of there software would change. I am not sure why you are tring to read into this as much as you are, as I never said anything about Microsoft, I simply said, I hate IE, a software product. I also never said I used Firefox either ;)

guys -OMG relax...

to the skeptics... I have 1 Dell desktop and 2 laptops (dell & powerbook).. I prefer my Mac OSX and Safari and been using FF like I said on my XP for quite some time.. IE 5/6 SUCKS like nothing in this world...

I am open minded, and did download IE7... I find it very fast, it has tabbed browsing and most of all doesn't leak memory like FF which I'd leave idle for 1h and come back to find a 500MB swap file!

very simply until FF comes with new version, IE7 is my browser of choice both at desktop and laptop ... in the last 3h i've been using it's perfect...

so unless you try why judge?

one piece of advice... disable "cleartype" from Tools --> Internet Options --> Advanced --> Browsing... as with cleartype on www sites look like eBooks...

Hi all,

I just installed IE7 and I'm still playing around with the settings. I disabled "cleartype" for the browser, but I noticed that it made the font in my Outlook Express have that cleartype look. Anyone else notice this? How do I make my e-mails look normal without that cleartype look?

Thanks,
~Mr. Bone88

Hey buddy,

no offence at all... I just wanted to start a nice talk.
I know many people that hate Microsoft (and products) just because it is
Microsoft. But, the moment you really start talking about it with them...
they actually have no idea why they hate it that much...

Because it's cool to hate IE

Hopefully this will see IE's market share go back up, as people seem a little sick of the Mozilla dev team being uninterested in fixing bugs.

At home I can't run SP2 on XP Pro, so therefore I can't install IE7. There doesn't seem to be any fix either.

So I installed IE7 at work and the first thing I noticed was the interface - the icons resemble no relation to eachother (they look like they were made by different people), the toolbars are actually buggier than they were in IE6, the "New tab" button doesn't show an icon untill you roll over it for some reason, the favourites and RSS drop down menus are just confusing and cumbersome, the endless "recommendations" about security settings are more prominent than before and interrupt the flow of browsing...

The CSS hover behavior also seems inconsistent and unresponsive, that's all I've had time to test so far, I'll continue testing when I get to work tomorrow and then I'll just start using Maxthon because at least it has a better interface and works as I'd expect.
