Hello,

I'm really interesting in foruming a forum related around music, gaming, and technology.

I want to mold it all into one forum - but how can I find a good, available name for it?

Should I get something brandable?

What are your guy's opinions, name PROS?

Thanks for the help,

Brandon

I have a similar sounding forum with 30k members but we are 4years old+
the domain name is fully focused around music as that is what we were based on,
but we cover video game discussion and tech help and talk etc....

you can figure it out man, just find a good .com and good luck!!
:)

I'd search godaddy auctions by each keyword you could use and see what comes up.

It really is going to be hard to find a good domain name that encompasses all of the areas the forum is going to cover.

Much better to choose 1 or 2 of the main onces and decide on ideal keywords for those.

These interests like music and games and tech are popular enough that you will always have other people interested in starting up a forum. So I would suggest you choose a brandable name so you can develop your forum brand and differentiate yourself from any competition!

A brandable is your only choice anyway. That is way too many categories to be looking at keywords.

I was about to write something like this. It seems to me, if your going to be that broad, I wouldnt focus so much on trying to find the perfect domain name with keywords and rather look at a brandable name and put some effort into marketing and brand development.

I think a couple questions to ask would be....

What kind of brandable do I need to find?

and...

Which keywords do I use to find it?

Use the most flexible domain name you can possibly find for the services you are going to offer.

If you cannot find keyword combinations around your preferred service/product keyword(s) then try to use keywords that describe those keywords' such as premium, prime, awesome, fabulous, kicka@@, in your face, hype, hot, cool, jammin', party, fun, good times, heavenly, ect. ect..

What kind of word string you formulate depends on the service or product you are offering and how you see your services as well as which ones sound better in combination with other keywords.

Also which is the most active and/or important service you are planning to offer? If it's a forum, then a forum.domain might be considered for best branding of the website.

hey guys I don't think he's looking for a sale but needs suggestion instead.

Brandon, use something easy to remember and brandable name. Make up a word.

It is actually quite difficult to make up a word, and making up a word that people will remember is even harder.

If he makes the word up then he is going to have a very tough time getting people to come to his site for a long time, possibly forever since no one will know it is there.

I would say this to the opening poster, have one main focus and keep to that one and when you have a base of people coming to your site then open up other forum areas, this will allow you to get known in one place rather than trying to grab traffic on all fronts at the same time.

Since you will cover a broad scope of topics, it's best to coin your forum with a term that covers these topics like - Media
