Hi, I recently hand-regged an expired .com domain. It is a GEO+KW.com in the luxury cruise niche.

So there is already a company of the same name operating on GEO+KW.co.uk. A bunch of other prospects as well. I am thinking of reaching out to the main company about the availability of the .com domain. My question is -

1. How much should I price it? - I am thinking of $2000-$4000, however, not sure if it is a reasonable ask? If they refuse for the price, I would probably not be able to sell the domain at all.

2. Who should I contact? - I looked up on LinkedIn for any Marketing team members of the company but there were none. Would it be appropriate to contact the chief executives? How should I go about it?

I am a newbie to domaining so any help from experts would be highly appreciated :xf.smile:

Well seeing your new to domaining I hope you've familiarised with trademark searches, You haven't mentioned TM's which doesn't bode well for any type of approach at the moment.

Key words are often trademarked in non-associated fields. However, Assuming the Keyword is purely Cruise related have you examined the market for this particular company, is it limited to just the UK ? If it is, it's unlikely they would be looking for a global audience (.com) for their business.

We all hold good domains in .com that Country based businesses are just not interested in

If they own the geo+KW in .co.uk it means they trade within the UK. They already own the far superior domain.

Also, what @BaileyUK said.

Hi, thanks for the reply! I did check for TM conflicts and they haven't trademarked it yet. Also, since it is GEO+kw domain, I haven't looked for other possibilities since it particularly relates to that country/location.

So since they have the .co.uk, they wouldn't be interested right? I did consider the possibility since the .com is available (it had high backlinks too) What about other companies in the same niche? There are a bunch bidding for GEO+keyword, so should I try reaching out to them?

If it has backlinks look it up on Archive.org to see how it was used prior.
