I need an idea for a contest

I recently started my own forum named www.4menforum.com

In order to get more attention I am thinking about offering a contest.

In your experience, if I were to pay the hightest poster in a certian period of time would I get alot of spam and useless posts? If so, what other suggestions can I do.

Also, does these even generally work and do I get alot of people on the site. WHat type of prize could I offer.

Well yes, paying the highest poster in a certain period of time would get you alot of spam and useless posts. If you plan to start such a contest you will need a strong moderation team to monitor and judge quality posts and accordingly decide the winner.

Another contest which can be started is the introduction of a referral program where a member with most no. of referrals wins the prize. In this case too there is a possibility that there may a lot of fake accounts created. So you will need to monitor the IPs of those referral accounts to determine whether they are genuine accounts or fake accounts.
