Hi guys,
I have been following some domain discussion for some time and I would say I am getting wiser when it comes to choosing a good domain name..

Now I have been thinking about experimenting on something and this is it,

We all agree that the shorter the word, the more valuable it is especially english one word like car.com, insurance.com, home.com etc..

My question now is, if I am able to find the available german one word for any of these english one word and register them in either dot com or dot de domain, would it be a wise move?

like I checked for flyingcar in german and it has been registered..

??????

Yes, one word domains are valuabele and that would be a smart move (either it is .com or .de).
You can always check NameBio to find out prices of sold names with keywords matching yours.

It's not really that simple.

You can't get an accurate answer without disclosing the exact name (I'm not saying that you should disclose it, but there's more to it). For starters, if the name is currently available to register, it's possibly a no-go (not always, but without knowing the name, I'd say possibly).

Also very important to note is that terrible names are registered and may never sell, so looking at what has already been registered or even it's listing price is nothing to go by (although FlyingCar is undoubtedly a super-premium name - in English at least).

I'd advise that you reach out to a German domainer here on NP for guidance, keep reading more posts, and be sure to have potential buyers in-mind before buying any domain name.

Good luck (y).

I get what you are saying and I understand but look at this case, the English word 'Health' has been registered in the dot com, dot, net, dot info. I searched for the German word for Health and I found it to be Gesundheit. Now the surprising thing is this, this German word for 'Health' has been registered also in the dot de, dot com, and dot net which simply means it is valuable because Gersundheit.de is already used as a website.. And estibot value it at $64000 with 100,000,000 frequency and 1860000 searches per month..

You get my point now?

first thing u need to do is grab estibot and go to your trashcan outside and put it there.. and do not bring it back.. til they pickup garbage.. to make sure its gone for good.

after this, the best thing to do is visit namebio and check what's been selling over years in .de

then for desert.. you can click here:

http://www.dnjournal.com/columns/dotde.htm

and probably many other links u can find on google.. but I will leave some of the fun for you.

enjoy.

Any good single keyword registered in German in a .com will have value.

Whoever taught you to use Estibot to measure domain value is a joker. Like they said, dump it in a trash bin.

I understand your analogy the creativity of your mind but it is not so easy to handle such type of domain names without being sufficient in the said language, with disregard to Google translate that might churn out wrong meaning lol.

But all the same, Good Thinking

You may have misunderstood me.

I didn't mean for you to interpret my point as "if it's registered in other extensions, it's not worth anything".

Instead ...

I meant it to be understood as "if it's registered in other extensions, it's not necessarily worth something".
