I just got an offer by email from a guy who saw my eBay auction that ended a couple of days ago. It was for Whack.net and it ended with no bids - starting price of $150 w/ no reserve.

He offered me $100 for the name. Should I counter-offer or should I just take the money? :-/

Say this:

Dear _____,
Thank you for your offer for Whack.net. We apreciate it. As our eBay auction started at $150, I'm afraid I cant go that low in the price. If you up your offer $25 I will accept your bid and I will transfer the domain to you.
From,
_________

This is what I would say if this were my domains.

Be really careful. I'm always hesitant to sell to people from eBay off of eBay, just because I know it's a target for scammers. I understand that people want to end auctions soon, save on fees.. but they might try to scam you.

If they didn't have some sort of solid reputation that you could check (profiles in forums), I wouldn't do the transaction off of eBay.

If they agree on a price and he wants to buy it briman1970 can always put another auction up for the same name.

Thanks guys... He's been an eBay member since Apr-01-03 and he has 11 positive feedback/no neg. The auction has already ended so I don't have to cancel it. If we negotiate a price, what form of payment should I accept? I'd still like more opinions on a counter-offer price.

11 positive feedback is NOT allot, to me thats not enough to trust somone off ebay, if you make the transaction through ebay and he rips you, you can get your money from ebay. if you do it off of ebay, and he rips you, ur screwed.. not to say this guy is gonna rip you, but........ its somthing to thnik about..

I got the name in a group of names off NP but I guess you could say I paid $75-100 for it. I'd really like to get $200-$250 for it. I just started the eBay auction at $150 since that was the absolute lowest I'd consider selling it for.

Do you guys think that asking for $250 negotiable would be a good idea or is that too much for this name?

It all comes down to you, do you need the money bad? Then counter with $150 If your not broke at the moment I think you could pull a little bit more on this name.

Try to get him up to $150 (you save some fees) and sell it. IMO.

Go through Paypal.

If not, you can always try other forums, Bazaar, SEDO, etc.

Good-luck.

Just to be safe check to when his last sale/purchase was and look to see what it was that he bought/sold. Then also check the rep of the buyer/seller of his past auctions. Don't take a credit card or give out bank wire info if you don't know the person.

I've had a bunch of people sign up to Afternic through my domains. I get 25% commish off of every purchase they make. One guy signed up under me and bought about 20 domains in one month. The next month I got a huge charge back because the credit card that he used was stolen.8-X

It is always better to be safe then sorry.

Back when I used to be an active eBayer, I used to have people buying stuff from me all the time after my auction ended. It still happens to me on Afternic Bazaar on occasion.

All depends on the name and whether I'm willing to dump it for a lower price after I realize that nobody wanted it for my asking price.

OR YOU COULD PUT IT BACK ON EBAY because sometimes you may have to put it up 3-4 even 5 times so everyone can see it start the auction at $0.01 and put a reserve of 150 200 annd buy now 350-400

EDIT : Do Not advertise your sales within another Members thread ~

I appreciated the help... I actually went to your auction to check out your method. I didn't take it as advertising your sale either.
