  • WordPress is new to me and I’m a bit of a perfectionist so getting my website up is proving a tad bit more challenging than I anticipated. Between tonight and tomorrow I hope to make some serious progress though, so I hope to have something presentable up by Friday (maybe sooner). I just have to keep reminding myself that the site doesn’t have to be perfect

I haven’t wanted to contact any end users until my site was up (and conveying some credibility) but that is probably just a stalling tactic my mind conjured up.

The response from forum members to the names I posted for appraisal has been lukewarm at best (one person who made a disapproving comment did later send me a “like’ for the post), but I still believe that they have some value. I may have to develop websites for the names to illustrate the value to some people but the upside is that I can then get more for them…:). I just put up some more names for appraisal if you want to take a look at them.

I hope your week went well.

Sure I will take a look at them.

Yea it is, mine wore off when I got stung with a load of badly chosen domain names didn't sell for me.

I haven't really tried to get hold of any end users to date but I really should :P

Let me know when you have your websites up :)

    Hi Wakeh,

I just posted some domains for appraisal after a weekend buying spree. I was just about to mention my new post to you when I saw the question you sent to me about what names I have. I apologize for not responding sooner but I did not realize you had messaged me (I have been on the site quite a bit recently but the user interface here does not seem the most intuitive to me yet).

Right now I have about 100 names I’m ready to promote with a handful more I’m saving for myself. I’m still hoping to get my website up this week but the progress has been slower than I hoped. I will definitely keep you posted about it.

I’m going to be contacting some potential end users this week and hope I can make my first sale relatively soon. Have you been contacting end users?

My mind is racing with domain ideas and potential projects; I’m guessing it’s a typical newbie domainers high…lol. I’d love you feedback on the names I posted as well as my portfolio when site is up.

    Thanks

No problem at all, what domains have you got so far?

    Hi Wakeh,
Nice work with Yoloswag.tv and Areaeurope.com, they are attractive sites. I’m planning to develop some of my domains too, most likely after I make my first sale. All the domains I have bought so far have been hand registrations. So far I have around 50 names I want to sell.

On one of the domain forums someone asked people how they sell their domain names. Someone responded “I don’t sell, I mostly buy and collect them.” It cracked me up because it really kind of describes what I have been doing up until this point…lol. I hope that will change soon because on next Thursday I plan to put up a “Coming Soon” page with a list of some of my favorite names and I will start my first Godaddy auction as well. I’m anxious to find out what you and other domainers think of the “hidden gems” I have uncovered…lol

If there is anything I can help you with (despite the fact that I am more “green” than you and I have not made 1 penny domaining so far…lol) please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Stan

    Hi Wakeh,

I am VERY new to domaining and came across your thread "Help for a newbie". I think you asked some great questions, many of which I would also like answers to. What really caught my attention is the fact that as a newbie you were able to sell a hand registration for $200, congrats on that!

I was curious about how the sale happened. Did you advertise the name / listing or did you market it directly to an end user? Did the buyer just happen to come across your SEDO listing? Did the buyer find you through WHOIS?

I have also hand registered some names that I THINK will have value to the right buyer; but now I'm stuck in a little bit of "analysis paralysis" as I try to figure out how to begin marketing and selling all these "hidden gems" I have scooped up (lol).

Your story was exciting and encouraging to me so I'd love to know more. Can you say the name that you sold?

    Stan
