I Hate Email Spam!

I really, really hate e-mail spam. I'm sure everyone here feels the same way. About a year and a half ago when I acquired my last name .COM, I quickly and excitedly set up my first name @ my last name .com. It was the perfect e-mail address, I thought.

Today it receives no less than 25 spam emails per day. Normally, this wouldn't bother me much since my spam filter in Thunderbird at home is very thorough. However, I check my e-mail address (POP3 mail forwarded to my DNOA gmail account) constantly at work, and oftentimes on my iPod touch when I'm not around a computer.

Since I don't think it's possible to stop the spam at its source, what are some strategies everyone is using to stop spam? Something I've been trying (a little too late) has been setting up forwarding accounts that all forward to my main address. This way, I know where the spam mail, if any, is coming from. For example, I have an account at Pool registered to pool @ my last name .com. All mail that is sent to pool @ my last name .com forwards to my main email account, and email programs will tell you that the mail was sent to pool @ my last name .com. I do the same thing with my domain ownership email address (I've found that's where A LOT of spam is originating).

I'm thinking that if I were to make a catch-all address, and when I register for a site, put that site's name @ my domain .com, I'll be able to more prevent certain spam emails. It might not be completely bulletproof, but I think it should be pretty effective for starting over (I'm going to consider my current "ideal" email address hopeless).

What other methods are there? :) I'm really interested in hearing what steps everyone else takes.

I used spam killer to filter the spams... but still got toms of them everyday.
What amazes me is how do the spammers know almost every email account?

Good gods, what are you people doing to get that much spam? As I said earlier, I make my email address public everywhere I go, and it is a bad day if I get 4 spam emails a day!
