You can find tons of advice here at NP's and one is if your are looking for big fast sales, you are in the wrong industry. Patience and long term are usually how domainers make their money. Quick flips usually equal little profit.

Iam fairly new myself and what i have realized is:
1) Don't buy anything for atleast 6 months.
2) Just read everything with respect to sales and the general process of aftermarkets.
3) Read some trademark violation cases to get a perspective.
4) Don't invest anything you cannot afford to lose..It is not easy to sell and the wait time of some punter's is a decade.
5) Don't believe in the Hype...most have a vested interest...guard yourself against unwarranted influence.
6) Have a real job...it's far easier to make big money in real life...Domaining could be an expensive hobby..
7) There are always a few outliers...hope you are the one..Good Luck!
