Hiii guys I am new into buying domains. I need to buy a domain which is going to expire in november. I am 100% sure that it will not be renewed and no one will be interested in buying it. I cant contact the owner for some reasons.
Now godaddy is the only options. Now the option available to me is back ordering the domain from godaddy. I am not much familiar about godaddy's back ordering service.

For eg if I backordered the domain,,then after how much time the domain will show into my account.

If godaddy is not able to pick up the domain then if it will refund me the money

And any other fact you want me to know about godaddy backordering,,please share

1. What is the registrar the domain is registered with?
2. What is the expiry date?

There is a Namepro member here who actually catches drop names for $15 (I think). Look for his thread. Many of his past customers were satisfied with his service. Try to use the "search" option to find his thread here at Namepros. Good Luck.

GoDaddy backorders suck. They cannot even beat their own hand-registered domains. That being said, they are good at picking up domains that nobody else wants (sic). They were also good a picking up "tasted" domains which were later dropped, simply because the big guys (SnapNames/NameJet/Pool) lost interest if the domain was taken and concentrated their efforts on fresh drops. But now that "tasting" has all but finished, that doesn't have much benefit any more, but might be a tiny advantage.

My question would be that why would you want to backorder it at all, if you are so certain it is going to drop? Just wait for it to drop and hand-reg it.

Also, you don't get a refund for a GoDaddy Backorder, you get to transfer the backorder to another domain.

As Erdinc asks. Where is it registered and what is the expiry date. As a general guide, it will take between 75-90 days from the expiry date before it drops.

No, that would be a big mistake. Read this message to see why:

surd doesn't know that backordering is not what he needs to do. Why do other posters talk about backordering? surd you must not backorder. Just answer my questions. You will buy the domain much earlier before it drops.

Well thanks all for replying,,the domain is going to expire in november 11 and it is registered with some australian webhosting comp...

Thanks for your recommendation :)

Surd to explain why erdnic is asking you where the domain is registered.. it is because some registrars align themselves to specific drop catchers so you will have a better chance of catching the domain if you order with them.

If it is a domain which you think nobody will go for, you can just wait for it to drop, then hand register it, or you can try my services (see my sig), or godaddy catchers or something cheap. The better catchers cost $59+

Most of these webhosting companies are resellers of a known domain registrar. For instance they could be a Directi, Enom or Godaddy reseller. If that's so the domain will be auctioned 25 days after expiry and you will not know where this happens. This is called pre-release auction. If the webhosting company is the genuine registrar (if it's name appears in whois search) then you need to check if they have partnered with any auction site like snapnames or namejet.

I provide a free domain monitoring service that checks all pre-release and all pending domains every day. You can create a free account on my site and add that domain to your monitor list along with any domain you suspect that might drop one day. This way you don't need to check the registrar or search for their partner auction site for any pre-release auction which will happen long before the drop.

If it expires and goes to pre-release auction somewhere, then you will receive an email 25 days after expiry. That domain will be available only on one particular website.

If it expires and is not auctioned during pre-release you will get an email 85 days after expiry, 5 days before it drops. That domain needs to be caught by a dropcatching service. You could use snapnames.com and namejet.com and some other service including the one mentioned by Smiler.

Smiler,
Sorry. I didn't mean to critique your suggestion which could be useful for dropping domains, especially if somebody doesn't want to pay $59 for snapnames backorder.

When you do a whois lookup, who does it say the Registrar is?
