Hello NPers,

I am haveing a debate in another forum..non compete with NP

When you go and change your DNS to another server it has to propergate. Now when you change it on the register, I say it is almost instant....it is the rest of the world that has to catch up and update.

Your 2 cents.

Depending upon the registrar, it is virtually instant these days at that level, yes. The propagation involves the rest of the process where the DNS landscape has to recognize the changes, which depends on some variables including things like TTL values (TimeToLive).

Generally it is instant. The problems usually are in your computers cache .

And other computers/servers cache. The old site information can be stored in all sorts of places. I moved a forum and found that 2 days later people were still posting on the old forum - I should have closed it first.

It's hardly ever instant for me because of where I live. Normally doesn't take more than a day or two for me.
