Didn’t concentrate on SEO, just some link exchanges but I was amazed to find:

www.gainweb.org Number 4 and 5 for keywords gain web exposure (1,320,000 Results)
http://www.google.com.pk/search?hl=en&q=gain+web+exposure&btnG=Search&meta=

www.gainweb.org Number 8 for keywords gain exposure (8,570,000 Results)
http://www.google.com.pk/search?hl=en&q=gain+exposure&btnG=Search&meta=

www.gainweb.org Number 20 for keywords quality websites directory (57,800,000 Results)
http://www.google.com.pk/search?q=quality+websites+directory&hl=en&start=10&sa=N

Link exchanges are a part of SEO but I agree, strange things do happen. You got good rankings without much work. Congrats!

Thank you Of course these are dynamic results and numbers may vary but I do know that ranking is good. I checked ranking in google after I saw in googleanalytics that 30~35 percent people (60-70 visits daily) are coming from google.

On my another site islamabadblog.com, more than 50% people (15-25 visits daily) come from google which is 2nd for keywords islamabad blog. Unfortunately, I cannot find what do people type in google.

I noticed one major point: the .ORG extension.

Just like you I also got one almost unexplainable First Place on Google detailed here at NP.
