...found that there are a number of 3 character hyphenated numbers available with .org and .biz extension eg 2-9.org. Worth a punt?

Good question.

I'm interested in knowing, as well.

Well, I don't think so. .ORG and .BIZ are not very "strong" extensions, and plus, hyphens :| .

That kills the value, IMHO. Bad combination :: .ORG and hyphens.

That's my opinion :].

I like to use - domain names becuase lots of things aren't avaliable with out them. Like for my domain name blog, the best one avaliable to reigster was dn-talk.net B-) . I think that - numbers would eb a good investment because they may become popular one day!

If you ever advertised that site Josh, I am afraid you would lose a lot of your traffic to:

dn-talk.com
dntalk.net
dntalk.com

Not a smart idea using hyphens, and an extention besides .com IMHO.

NICE bare must be a popular number.

I think that is it not really worthwhile. I have seen some of these kinds for sale with the .biz extension, they didn't sell even with prices less than reg fee.

I would agree with TS, since .org and .biz aren't top of the line they aren't much to go after. I'd rather focus on 3 char domains without hyphens :)

HI

If the domain contains only two popular words and a hyphen and it is a .org and you develop it then I think it is worth the reg fee.

I have seen that SE like domains more that contain a hyphen between the words in the domain name for search engine positioning...

But I could me wrong...

Thanks

I really don't see any appeal in these as well - Unless you have a good purpose for them already ..... as far as folks having good luck on hyphenated domains - Well ... they work fine from a SEO POV , but Try to Brand one of them and advertise it on the radio etc ... Do you think anyone will be able to get the right web address out of "NNN-NNNNNNNN-NNNNNN.net" on the radio ?

the specific question was re 2 numbers separated by a hyphen with the .org extension, giving a 3 character domain name.
