I need to make a choice between a 2-word .com with hyphen OR same 2 word .biz with no hyphen. It is absolutely NOT a respectable business name. So...do I make a choice or buy both and point 1 towards the other?
(I will shoot the NPer who says diddle up another name combination! don't do it!)

Go for the hyphened 2 words dot com :imho:

Go for a hyphenated two word .com. .com is always preferrable over .biz :imho:

since it is not a business name, then go with the hyphenated .com

if it were suitable as a .biz, I would go with both, or even just the .biz

I donโ€™t want to get shot. So, here's my advice.

I would almost never use the .biz unless the intended use was directly related to business. Itโ€™s that simple to me.

Best wishes,
Kimmy

it is a business but not a 'respectable' one!

Iโ€™m confused. Is this an adult business?

Go with the dash, unless it needs to be vocalized.

.biz sucks.

This should be a no brainer. .com all the way, even if you have to have the hyphen.

I agree with Gene's suggestion :)

Gene why is there such a total down on .biz? If, for example the domain name was jokeshop or clownoutfits (ie a non-serious name) is the .biz for you such a total negative that ANY .com variation will be better? (within normal bounds of reason)

It's more of a personal dislike. I'm sure some domains will be well matched with the .biz extension, but I just see it as a slow mover in the market. I think in terms of public awareness when it comes to the value of a domain. Most (who are not in the internet marketplace) are not even aware that .biz exists. I think it's a huge mistake for any business to use a .biz if they are pouring substantial money into marketing it -- much traffic will be lost to .com. But again, a lot of what I'm saying is not based on numbers and statistics. It's my personal observation, which may or may not be skewed.

Go with .com, .biz is still to unknown.

It really depends on the subject matter and whether its for B2B use. If its for B2C applications, keep the .BIZ namespace clean of irrelevance and go for the brain dead .COM.

mole. its B2C...can you expand a little more on 'keep the .BIZ namespace clean of irrelevance and go for the brain dead .COM' ???

or does it concertina to 'go with the .biz?'

Much as I like .BIZ yosh, I feel it's use as a business address is best with the B2B sector. Having B2C sites clutter the .BIZ namespace will only undermine its distinctive image and unique positioning values.

aha, never thought of it that way. Its difficult to walk away from a prime name .biz but others have reported good names with .biz getting little traffic so I might just have to bite this bullet.
