As one of the most registered new gTLDs, .top domain has been popular among domainers worldwide. Recently, huge brands are also attaching great attention to .top :
OTTO company: OTTO.top
Amazon: kindle.top
Chanel: LPL.top
Godaddy: Godaddy.top
Hispeed: Thailand.top

Google got three: Google.top, Chrome.top, Gmail.top

;) Promising future ;)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Most of these companies register all extensions and its only for brand protection

A few $$ here and there for these companies means nothing so why not

Its no indication on the success of the extension, a few years ago when .CO was released, Twitter got no_url_shorteners, Google got G.co, Amazon got A.co etc etc....it has had no effect on the extension

Well, I really didn't feel like doing much diggin. I did found that 95%+ of .top names are registered at Chinese registrars. Also, I found that most of .top "developed" websites are sites such as this: http://www.sneakers.top/ (Selling fake shoes.)

So imo, this is just a spam extension.

LOL @ that web site! The incredibly fake photos of their "customer support" and also at the bottom where it says: "Copyright © 2008-2018 All rights reserved."

That's exactly what I was saying above about .top being the first "made for spam" extension.

If Google is purchasing Google.top or Chrome.top it does not means that they find .top interesting it means that they are just doing it as a part of Brand/ TM protections.

:xf.rolleyes: Google doesn't need to reg .top domains to protect anything. They're big enough to snatch it like the tooth ferry while you are sleeping. :xf.grin:

I remember you said before that you're invested pretty heavily in .top (well, lol just noticed the links in your signature). I wish you luck with it. :) However, I see .top truly as a truly "made for spam" extension. Plus, again the renewal costs are high and most of the domains are parked! Those are two red flags right now, in regards to ngtlds.

How does it sound like when the above domains become: T.top, G.top...and Woooo, A.top !!
How does it sound like if kindle.top become a website tailored for kindle selling?
Thank u for your feedback:-,

It would sound good, but it never happens, not with any of the thousands of new domains extensions that have been released

Just trying to save you some money, you are obviously new to the game and a lot of people fall into this "new extension" trap

Just stick to the tried and testes extensions, its the only way you will make any money

One thing that throws me off about TOP is this:
59,429 (73.82%) of the registered domains are parked!
Nearly 3/4ths of all the domains are not being utilized and many of the remaining that are made into some sort of site... well... many here have been kind enough to list some of the sites that they have produced.

But still the numbers dont lie. The other thing that throws me off is this.
The top 3 registrars for this extension are:
Jiangsu Bangning Science and technology Co. Ltd.
Alibaba Cloud Computing Ltd. d/b/a HiChina
Chengdu West Dimension Digital Technology Co., Ltd

Each are Chinese registrars.
Each have 15,000+ TOP domains registered to them.

The next nearest registrar is 101domain but only has about 9,700+ TOP domains registered.
The numbers are just not there for me and considering that TOP had a singular day with over 16,000 registrations in December... (did they have a sale or give away?).
Something just trikes me as off here.

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers

I don't consider it bad, It is good for specific uses, but since there are more preferences available people choose those which sync well with the brands.

If I were a seller of fake sneakers, for example, I would definitely choose .top over others.

Thank U, dude, LOL:D. I really did invest pretty heavily in .top (personally), and am still waiting for something to happen.

I become to know, after reading your extremely popular threads:laugh:, that u got much expertise in domains . There is, maybe, a point in your opinion about .top. But, we are not predictors. So, why not spare some room for .top instead of being so rigid ?

BTW: whoever knew that Namepros would become so popular when someone registered it long ago? LOL, time tells everything :D!

Never take website of this kind seriously:xf.smile:
LOOK AT THE POSITIVE SIDE OF .TOP DOMAINS:P~~

What's the positive side? Big brands saw .top spam and ran to protect their brands?

top isn't a very popular word anymore, I mean for general usage in the English language. Maybe "top" is more popular in China.. or in the 1980s.

I think it would be better to even use "cool" than "top."

Yes they had promotion with 101 and some others too it was for sale for .99$ or 1.99$ if I remember it correctly.

People have great and more better options than .top domains. Its good that it is growing!
Good luck!

I have way too many friends in the gay community to be comfortable with having a .top domain. I would get endless eyerolls.

But there's a big marketing opportunity for .top and .bottom, i guess.

I guess most registrations of .TOP are from China.
Think that must be because the registry of .top is in China, and they have marketed there for a while. I don't think too many Chinese even know the meaning of "top", it is English after all. But in the long run, it can because quite popular in the world cus I really can't think of what's bad about it. lap.top, desk.top, tip.top :)

Looks like all of those Google ones are unregistered, on the collision list. Thailand.top looks like a domainer with a hispeed.ch email to me.

Still the saying: time tells everything...
There is a buffering time period between the registration of .top and the use of .top.
Well, i really wanna compliment u on ur down-to-earth spirit:lookaround: !

I'm not sure what that means. Can you explain further?
