Question #1

What is your appraisal of a brandable domain like this? (use the poll above to answer)

Question #1

Do you feel that one particular animal is more valuable than the others? If so, please explain. (answer here in thread)

Thanks for participating. :)

*Please note: I do not own any of the above names. That's why this a general poll in the discussion frum, rather than an appraisal thread.

Dog is probably the most popular animal. Although it doesn't sit well with a service oriented domain :)

Yeah, I think Dog and Cat would be the most popular animals.

I think HostCow has a nice sound to it. HostMonkey is ok.

Alligators aren't very popular, but look at HostGator, now one of the world's biggest hosts. With a solid core business, and good marketing, they made it work.

I've always had a soft-spot for companies with mascots, but it seems not many use them anymore.

I voted $3,000 -- $6000 (to an enduser)

Many end users prefer brandable domains rather than generics and at $3 to 6k its in range of small(ish) business startups, just take a look at the logos of new businesses at - LogoTournament.com, most seem to be brandable names.

Out of the names you listed I prefer HostMonkey although I can't really explain why other than it sounds more brandable and has a nice ring to it, a nice logo and its good to go :) My second favourite would be HostDog.

I sold a similar kind of name D o m a i n F o x .com for 4k a little while ago, it had about 7 or 8 offers over 3 years and when I lowered my expectations a bit and set the price to 4k buy now it sold.

Good Brandable names will always be popular IMO
