Hey guys,
I'm relatively new to the domain game. I probably started buying up domains a month ago and have 32 of 'em. I have a couple questions how the pros around here make money from their domains.

Do you guys just park your domains and wait for someone to stumble upon it and make you an offer, or do you think about the market that could use it and then email a bunch of companies letting them know you would like to sell the domain to them?

Do you buy hosting for all your domains, and build a simple site with a little content and try to sign up to some affiliate programs, or put some Adsense links throughout your page?

I guess I'm just curious how it is people are making money. I don't plan to quit my day job, but I am hoping to make just a few hundred $ a month with as little effort as possible. Basically I want some passive income - even if it's just a little bit.

Anyone have any tips/suggestions or personal stories to share to enlighten myself and probably other rookies out there?

Thanks!

There's no silver bullet so you'll need to put in some work to expect returns.

Domain Parking will be your easiest source of passive income. Even this isn't guaranteed as many domains won't have enough parking revenue to cover their registration fees. You should concentrate on solid keyword domains that are likely to have some type in traffic and attract decent ppc rates.

If you really want to get somewhere you'll need to start developing websites and monetizing them. This will take more of an effort than you've stated you're willing to make.

It's a healthy mix of all of the above. Parking generates a little bit here and there, even though the recent developments in the domain parking industry are more than discouraging to even think about parking.
In terms of monetizing domains; i'd use my strongest domain and build a mini site, sign up for affiliate programs, then use subdomains with subsequent pages and domains.
There's a lot of legwork in selling a domain, unless the domain is one of the few where companies/people are knocking on our door, you'll have to do your homework, compile a list of companies that could possibly be interested in your domain, then send a mass email out. There are a few threads about this on NP.

Unfortunately, there is no one solution or quick money fix. It doesn't come easy, but it's still great fun to see whether your plans unfold, essentially your investment for this type of gamble is rather small.
