Oh I forgot to add a question mark at the end of the title. Sorry this isn't a guide but rather a question:

I'm a young domainer who just turned 20. I don't have huge capital or funds with which to acquire good strong domain names.

I can however sell some decent available names for $100 to $150 a pop.

My question is how to go from where I am now to getting a decent keyword.com.

How did you guys start out? Did you have funds ready to start buying good names or did you buy and sell your way to the top?

Would really appreciate the help.

Turm your $150 into $200 then to $400 and so on ......

keep your eyes and ears open for great opportunities and hopefully when you see one you will have the funds to buy.

Its like working out you dont start off with big muscles you have to work out every day. Same with domaining .

One idea might be to get that keyword in another language.

It's easier than in English and sometimes they pay really well.

Get credit cards. That's how I started to "really" domain. Was in the same position you're in right now. Only charge what you feel you can pay back!

That would be dangerous to anyone just starting out. Only buy what you can afford now. At least until you learn the ropes.

Yes I don't have a credit card which takes me out of the after market but I will eventually get one because you do need one for living in general.

rbedell you make a good point as well. . .gotta spend within limits.

Good points.

Keep the advice flowing.

This is the way I planned to go about domaining. I am also 20 and I started reading Namepros back in the very beginning of 2006. I had money to invest in names but decided to put the money in the stock market instead. I did stuff on the internet to make money to buy names. Now this past summer after having been around learning the market I decided to create a plan and see if I could make some money at this.
My Plan
Step 1
I purchased a CVCV.com in August for $500
I also purchased a bunch of LLLL.com

Step 2
I Purchased a few L-L-L.coms

Step 3
I traded the CVCV.com for a LLL.net and $100 cash

Step 4
I sold all of my LLLL.com and L-L-L.com (around 300% return on these)
Sold the LLL.net for 1k

Step 5
Purchase and Flip LLL.net

Step 6
Purchase and Flip LLL.com

Step 7
Purchase keyword.com

I am to step 5 and now have enough money to buy 2-3 LLL.net names. I have gone from not having enough money to buy an LLL.net to being able to buy two or three. I also have a bunch of LLL.in names that I bought with the money from flipping the LLLL.com and L-L-L.coms. I guess you could say I have been luck so far and I will probably lose all my money in the next few months but at least I am having fun.

I've have thought of this buy, flip, reinvest strategy.

Seems to be working for you.

I don't really have a plan . . . and I think I need one. (only makes sense).

Any one else used the buy, flip, reinvest strategy to quickly increase revenue and grab some nice names?
