I have two pictures and would like to make one to fade on the right (the right of the image) and the other to fade on the right and left (of the image).

That would look like the three pictures (theatre, organ and music sheet) on the banner ofTHIS PAGE .

Can you tell me how to do it or else is there an ultra quick tutorial to show how to do it? I'm using Firewoks MX and Photoshop CS.

In firefox you have also a specific fade tool (I have an italian vesion so I dont know what is the english correspondant) to me it is in the seventh menu from the left (commands?)
then click the drop down menu and chose (Creativity?)the forth item, and then you should find fade, at the last place.

just, do like that: select the first image you want to fade
and then go thru the fade command and apply it (you can choose various from a preview)
then after you applied the command click the pointer arrow in the top of the left menu (tool's bar), by doing that you will notice that now you can fine tune the grade of fade by sliding a lline that it has appeared over tha image .
Redo the same process with the other images and you are done.

Hope it help..

right, on photoshop:

you need the masking tool. Select the first image, and choose the little icon in the layers pallet that is a white box with a black circle in it. On clicking that, you want to select the gradient tool. Reset your colors back to black and white, and proceed to stretch the gradient from where you want solid color to where you want it to fade.

Change layers and repeat! :)

Its really that simple! :) Good Luck! :)

If you want an image with a fade at both sides, use a mirrored gradient! :)

Macromedia Fireworks tested - Draw a rectangle over the image and fill with gradient. In gradient option change the opacity of right side to 0% and on the left site change the opacity to 100%. That's should work good. a short tip. :)

Thanks for returning the favour hasif.
I've chosen linear in the gradient menu but can't seem to be able to choose the side of the rectangle to change opacity, it just changes the opacity of both sides.

can you guide me through it?

The other posts were already very helpful and I've been able to get what I was looking for.

Thanks a lot for your suggestion.
