right, do you know about "alpha" levels?
quick fade tutorial:
1. Open Flash MX (or similar)
2. Make a new layer
3. Draw a red box in the first layer
4. Copy the box into the other layer and change the color (to green for instance)
5. Convert both boxes to symbols
6. Click on the green box and look in the properties pannel.
7. You should see the word "Color" with a drop down box next to it. Select "alpha" in that box.
8. A percentage in a box should appear. Change it to 0%
9. Now create a new keyframe in frame 21
10. Right-click somewhere in the first 20 frames and click "Create Motion Tween".
11. In frame 21 again, click on the green box. In the properties panel again, you should see the percentage box. Change it now to 100%. There you have your first fade.
12. Now repeat the steps for the red box (still in frames 1-21) just reversing the alpha (so you start with 100% and end with 0%)
Its exactlly the same principal for images and anything else. They will fade in and out. I like the colored squares though, because they make interesting patterns!
