How do I get bids with only 7 days left on EBay auction?

I have 10 .pro names up on EBay right now, and trying to figure out how to get some visibility so enough people know about them to make a difference.

A few have under 20 visits, a few have between 30-50 visits one has 65 visits.

No bids on any, and four of them have one watcher. They've been up since Friday and that doesn't seem very promising. The starting bid is $50, with a clear explanation that the auction winner will need to renew the domain soon after transfer, but if the winning bid is $300 or more, I'll include a year in the transfer.

What is the best way to reach people with this? I think they're good names and a good deal, but how to convince others? Any ideas on effective ways given the short amount of time left on the auction before the names expire to get the bidness?

People browse ebay when they know what they are buying. How many people know about .PRO? Not many... how many people look for .pro domains on ebay? Not many... You are only going to look at those listings if you happen to come across them while you were browsing for them in the "other" category or if you just went there to look for some .pro domains.

This issue highlights yet another failure of marketing as far as .PRO extension is concerned.

Try Craigslist as well but do read their policies first.

The .com domain name section usually garners more attention TBH, probably will get some most of the bids within the last few minutes.

Good luck Sir.

a decent reserve will help avert regrets if you don't get much interest...

Since they are so close to expiry (a couple weeks?) advertising on boards about an Ebay listing just tells people to wait and try and catch when it drops. If anything I would start it at .99 (if you are letting them drop) then you will get people bidding it up. Starting it too high just keeps people away as they have to pay the renewal fee plus auction cost). Now if you are renewing there is nothing wrong with having a higher start point but I dont think you are...

I have learned in auctions that people 'take ownership' in a domain if they are winning it and sometimes bid higher in the end because they have already taken ownership of it in their minds. I have had good results starting low on Ebay.

good luck, gary-

Thanks!

I may end up keeping some of these. I've been monitoring the viewing count and the watch count, and getting an idea of what seems to be popular.
But more importantly as I've started to search around I've figured out some other ways to market them. The ones that I don't think will work out I'll probably lower the price as you suggest.

Another suggestion above about the reserve price is great advice for domains I might want to keep.

Great learning experience. A lot of work, but good practice.

Thanks to all of you.

I love this place! Fantastic forum! I wish I had even 1% of the knowledge that the namepros.com forums represent.
