How to get rid of a TM domain?

I made the mistake of registering a domain that is a trademark. I wasn't aware of the TM, and probably could just ride out the year leaving the site blank but I don't want any potential problems.

How do I get rid of the domain? It's a .com registered through 1and1 (about 5 days ago).

Thanks
Colin

(I did search through the forums but I can't find the answer)

Just delete it from your account.

I have never seen a registrar the doesn't allow this. How bad of a tm is it?

I can't find a way to delete it. Maybe someone familiar with 1and 1 knows if this is possible and how to do it. I can't find anything in their help section and I dread making a call to their customer service.

Bad enough. After reading everything on this forum, I just want it gone. Maybe I'm paranoid but better safe than sorry. It's really not a good domain anyway.

cancel.1and1.com

be sure to read the faqs so you dont accidentally delete your whole package, and that you choose delete as soon as possible instead of end of year contract etc....

You can always Transfer it to me :)

Have you checked that the trademark is for online services ?

Trademarks apply only to the industries/classes and country/s for which it has been registered.

Why not post it for free in the Freebies section, letting the taker know that it may be TM problematic. Some domainers know how to use a TM domain effectively while staying out of trouble.

Or, Why not contact the TM holder and offer the name to them for free. Sometimes they will be so appreciative they may give you a token thank you gift. It has happened many times.
