What are some of the ways to contact the domain owner for a domain name which has not been developed and has a private whois?

I have always been lazy to address this problem. But let's say I wish to acquire a domain name which has a private whois and the website hasn't been developed either.

What is the way to get in touch with the owner? Here is the query that a friend has:

"I have a small client that wants to purchase a domain name. It's parked, and whois and all google search efforts to find out who the owner is has provided no information. What is the best brokers or services for small purchases? It's not an important purchase, they would not want to spend more than a few hundred dollars, and would rather not pay anyone if the sale doesn't go thru."

In most cases* it's actually pretty simple:

    1. Check Whois and see what registrar the domain is registered with...

    2. Go to that registrar's website and open a ticket or otherwise contact support...

    3. Tell them you are intererested in purchasing (insert domain name) which is under privacy and ask them to forward your message to the domain registrant...

IMPORTANT: make sure to include your name, company and contact details: email and a phone number are a must, best include your website too; very important that you look serious - to the registrant, but also to the registrar you are asking to pass your message along!

Including your price offer helps to elicit a quick reply - assuming you are serious and it's not a low ball offer.

I've had a few serious buyers get a message to me this way, through the registrar, even though in one case the domain was already expired, hence not resolving to my temporary landing page :xf.smile:

*) in some cases, the domain's registered through a reseller and you will need to go through them, not the registrar. Sometimes this is shown in the Whois record. Otherwise start with the registrar of record, they should tell you where to direct your enquiry if a reseller is involved.

    Good luck!

Names under privacy have an email that can be used to contact the owner.Names are often pointing where the person wants to be contacted.

A few hundred they might as well wait for it to drop IMO. As soon as you contact, owner will renew.

Yes, this is another very simple option, but less surefire, IMHO. Never hurts to try, though.
Most likely. Hopefully. And you can negotiate with the owner and there is a chance to buy at your $xxx price point. Wait for it to drop and there's a very good chance HugeDomains snaps it up and lists at their price point: $x,xxx! And there's no negotiating with them, unless you want the price to go up!

Contact the registrar or someone with connections to the registrar.

If the domain has a privacy service on the whois and not "redacted", but the privacy service does not provide masked email address (ex. [email protected]), then go to the privacy services website. Many of them have a form you can fill out where you fill in your details and the domain you are wanting to contact and they will forward your message to the domain owner.

Just be professional in your email or the owner might not reply . By replying to you he will reveal his email address so if you come across as a spammer or scammer, he may not reply.
