I want to check domain name authrorization (EPP code) of a domain name quickly, how could to do that?
Sometime I bought a domain name and the seller gave me a EPP code, how could I write a script to check that EPP right or wrong?
Now I used to use Name.com to check.
Please tell me how could to do like Name.com?
My English is poor, so please don't mind.
Thanks

there is no way to check it quickly AFAIK - the transfer either going to go through or going to be declined because of invalid code - and how soon this going to happen all depends on the particular loosing and receiving registrar

I don't understand why you want to check whether the epp is right or wrong (before you transfer?). If it's right, the domain transfers carries on; If it's wrong, you get the chance to input the correct one.

because it may take a few days before you going to get the transfer denied because of invalid transfer code, while they wanted an immediate response whether it is valid or not

Really? All the transfers that I have done give you an immediate response as to whether the code is correct or not.

I don't know what database you will checking these EPPs against (outside of a transfer process). Risk of massive 'domain disappearances', I'm afraid!

Thanks all, but I don't know why some registrar could check the EPP immediately like name.com or inww.com?
And just like dompro said, Sometimes I buy a domain name and the seller provide me an EPP code, I want to know it right or wrong to notice the seller immediately.
Now I use Name.com at: https://www.name.com/domain-transfer?utm_source=homepage&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=unicornhome

And I want to ask how could Name.com do that? And can I code it for myself like Name.com?

The registrars have direct connections to the registry, so they can access the registry database and do things like initiate transfers and check auth codes.

There is no real way to do that unless you are a registrar. Some registrars are very quick to initiate transfers, so you know the auth code is correct but completing the transfer can take up to 5 days. Some losing registrars allow you to expedite the outgoing transfer but not all of them.

The problem is that even though the transfer has been initiated with a correct auth code, it can still be denied or fail for other reasons.

And even after a domain has been transfered, there is still a possibility that the former registrar will claw it back (with agreement of the new registrar), for instance in stolen domains cases.

Bottom line, being able to verify an auth code is a moot point, it does not guarantee ownership of the domain will be secured :gl:
