Hi,
Absolutely n00b here considering name catching.
I want to get a name which has not expired yet,but I am 99.99% sure that it will expire.
Here are the details-
------------------------
Domain Regged @ Godaddy
Expiration Date-21/09/2010

------------------------
I have put it on Godaddy domain monitor and back-order for now.The domain is a 7 letter short phrase and sure to catch eyes of many people.
How do I maximize the chances of getting this domain?
When it will hit the pre-release?
When should I bid on this domain?

Please guide!
Thanks

The domain will be auctioned at Godaddy if it expires. There is no catching because it is not dropping. The domain is already in the Godaddy system. They will just push it to auction on their own website:
https://auctions.godaddy.com/

No matter what you do, Godaddy will run a public auction where anybody can join while the auction is still running. Since you have backordered the domain they will take your money and place it as the first bid and start an auction.

As a result the auction will attract more attention by others because they will see there is already another bidder (you). Therefore it is better not to backorder at Godaddy at all. You (or anybody else) can join the auction at any time.

You can change the domain that backordered to some other domain. I suggest just to leave it on domain monitor.

As a rule, never backorder at Godaddy. It is always the wrong thing.

You should bid on it on the last day.
