What is the best way to get a domain not to resolve? Change the DNS? To what?

... how about change it to something that doesn't resolve... like a non-existent ip address maybe?

Change the nameservers to its own without pointing them to any ip.

example.com

ns1.example.com
ns2.example.com

or just redirect to one of my sites and give me the traffic :sold:

some registrars won't let you change nameservers to something which doesn't resolve.

In that case, you can just create your own subdomains on a domain and use them as the nameservers.

e.g. I use ns0. and ns00.

Remove all the nameservers for the domain.

don't bother with setting up your own NS or stuff like that, just point it to any NS server.

Here are a few for a change

Name Server: DNS2.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS3.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS4.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS5.NAME-SERVICES.COM

Thanks for all the advice. I think most registrars (including mine) won't allow you to put blank or non-resolving nameservers or ip addresses.

This sounds like it should work though. Thanks.

I had not tried that trick and yes some companys don't allow you to have blank spaces.

If you have the ability to change the A record to something non-existent, it would be better. That way if you ever change your mind you won't have to wait for the zone servers to update with you new DNS

add it to your own dns that you have but don't add it on cpanel.
