Hi!

I was doing some research when i discovered a long domain like :

Someweirdcancercurewithprofit.com

I've noticed that the words that compose the domain have about 1000+ keyword searches per month ( all together ), all words are high paying keywords and its not listed on any Search Engine, doesn't have any backlinks or get any type-in traffic.
I got a little curious so i decided to make a whois on it, i've verified that the domain belongs to some kind of "taster" company, was Created on Feb 2007,Updated Nov 2008 and Expires in 2009.

So, my question is, if it was registered until 2009 its because its making money, how's that possible?
Maybe with redirected traffic?

If the domain is being tasted, then it would appear to be registered for an entire year. But the tasting will only last 4-5 days so it should get dropped if it is not making money for the taster. With no links and little chance of type-ins I would expect it will be thrown back.

It may have been tasted because someone had a site once, or it was at least registered and then dropped or maybe never used at all.

As far as the number of monthly searches goes, if the entire phrase does not have serches for it, it won't matter much what the words that make it up have, except perhaps for the first words in the name. What I mean is that if the first two or three words have some searches for them, then it could get traffic from a partial match on the domain, but I'm not sure if that really happens or not. I can tell you that if a long search phrase does have searches then it is possible for a search engine to index the domain and show it to people when the search for that exact phrase.

Hey Callmoney - I noticed your ad on Sedo for Q4T dot com.... "Domain is valid through May 5, 2008. (one whole year)."

You better not let that expire man! - or is it a typo and should be 2009, not 2008?

Just thought I'd let you know....

Thank you l2ride55, I've moved it to my registrar and forgot to change the info on Sedo.

Nielsencl, the entire phrase have about 1000+ searches, i've also thought about tasting but this domain its registered since February.
Because its composed by high paying keywords it only need few clicks to be profitable, thats why i think they make traffic redirection.

Ok, that makes sense because I have quite a few domains like that. The number of searches is low, but they do get some and the bid amount is pretty high so you only need a click or two a month to make money during the year.
