How smart is this?

Network Solutions is listed as the Registrar and Registrant of DomainNames.com

They don't even bother redirecting the domain to NetworkSolutions.com

Firefox returns a "page cannot be displayed" error and even more crazy, Internet Explorer calls up a Live Search page that lists Network Solutions in the top sponsored sites position. It appears that Network Solutions is actually paying for traffic they already owned in the first place.

Maybe I'm having some weird DNS issue but if not, that's funny and disturbing.

I don't think so, I beleive this name has been that way for a while now, I think it was discussed here before ....somewhere (as far as I remember)

I did some searching and found some references to it back in March.

They must have a reason for not redirecting it but the fact that they're paying for placement on those error pages is ridiculous. Wouldn't it be more entertaining to just light the money on fire?

They're not only wasting the domain, they're paying to recapture their own traffic. That's the part I can't get past.
