The idea of investing in someone just because they buy your name seems odd.

It's worth less than $3m but he's marked $5m as his "desire" point (as in don't bother waking me for less) so it won't sell for less.

He's clearly not investing in whoever buys the domain. The idea has to be right and then a cash/equity deal would take place. Otherwise for the right price the domain is 100% sold.

He's stated that more than 1 offer of $3 million has been presented. It's worth that at least. The domain is so rare that the ask could be $10 million or more. That said, to move it now, $5 million is a very obtainable sum to fetch.

The domain is not that rare

That depends how you define rare. This domain is incredibly rare from a basic supply and demand standpoint, especially if you consider all of the ways it is unique:

• It can be spoken with a single word: twenty vs. twenty-five.
• It is 1 of only 100 possible NN.com domains.
• It is 1 of only 10 NN.com's that end in 0.
• On a traditional number pad, the "2" and "0" are neighbors, which makes them easy to type sequentially.
• 20 years old is the first "adult year" after nineteen.
• Our 20's are our heyday years, physically speaking.
• In Japan and in Japanese tradition, 20 is the age of majority.

20.com is far more rare than, say, EM.com

That's a silly view. You know what we're talking about here. Any NN offered for sale is rare. You say every domain lol, as if the daily drops are rare...

If someone is willing to pay $3m doesn't mean that everyone will.
The domain is not that rare to ask for $5m IMO.
Anyway, will see.

Who cares if everyone will pay what someone else offered. The fact remains that someone else made an offer of $3 million, making it worth at least that.

If this domain isn't rare, a NN ending in zero, what do you consider rare? There's a handful of these in existence and only one being offered for sale at present. This is extremely rare and worth many millions.

It should be purchased and branded as 2.0 IMO.

First congrats if you own that domain. Second, looking at the recent sale of 6N 345678.com , $150K, I would say 3 million is a fair price.

Welcome to NamePros @jason calacanis - I first asked this question on my blog about a year back and there was some interesting chatter about the domain and it's value at the time. There's no question that the market for numeric .com's has exploded since then. There haven't been any recent, reported 2 number .com sales but i'd say the name is worth north of $5M in today's market.

Are you still sticking with this plan?

I think the best way to value it is to ask several high-level brokers, without any commitment, and average that.

He posted he wants cash or cash/stock so that changed.

Perhaps he just wanted to stoke interest in a name at a domain forum to get the word out more than he has already? Everyone throws numbers around like they have the money and it's nonsense based on random guesses and comparables in an industry with little transparency.

If you got this domain in 2006 for $75k, you should be happy for even less than $1m
