Hi guys,

I came across a domain portfolio with 6 year old domains. All are first registered 6 years back and never dropped. But, most of them are .info domains.

How much we can pay for a 6 year old info domain.
domains are having good keywords, something like AustraliaTravel.info(this is not in portfolio, just an example how the domains are) Most domains are 2word domains, but good keyword combination.

He is asking for $150 to $200 for each domain. Registration cost for 6 years is 6x8=48~50. Registration cost is roughly 50. so is he asking for more or reasonable. If we buy at that price, will we be able to make profit by reselling after holding 5 or 6 months?

All your opinions on OLD domains Please, Please share your exp in selling/buying OLD domains.

Thanks

IMO Domain age doesn't really matter much, and shouldn't be forayed into the cost that much. It depends on the names, I mean, if I regged sdfaertasdf.info for 10 years, I'm not selling that for $100 or even $10.

So, You'll have to look into his portfolio a bit more and see if its worth it.

I do not totally agree with this, as most "Old" domains are the good ones. There are many old domains that are not great generics, but 95% of the generics are OLD.

With that being said, you should always base your purchase on the strength of keywords and it's more likely that a good domain, is going to have some nice age to it.

You are not buying a case of wine.

Age does play a minor factor but what counts most is the name itself.

Will you pay $150 for sdadlkdlafka.com if it'd been registered for 6 years?

Over at Digitalpoint buyers seem to like buying domains that are aged, even if those are crap names

From my understanding the domain age helps with SEO as well.

Yes, my old domains tend to peform better at search engines from my experience.

I got this 7 years name from TDNAM ($5 :hehe:) and I just threw up a page and didn't do any promotion and it's getting good traffic from Google. :)
