.mobi How much does your .mobi portfolio earn you daily?

Just a fun little thread to see how much everyone's earning. Inspired by many people's comments about good earnings on parked .mobis, I'm in the process of parking ~340 of my 358 .mobis over at Sedo.

I hope to have some figures of my own soon :)

I don't know a single person who even knows what .mobi is, except for this forum, and I know a lot of people.

I do. Non domainers who are smart phone junkies. They knew I was into domains and came and asked me if I had heard about .mobi. Word is getting out more than you realize.

30k hits is definitely impressive if true...
Please see post #10 in this thread. I am confident vcool is not lying. Those were stats from February, I can only imagine what they are today.

but I doubt that anyone here would agree that .mobi as a whole has taken off yet. If you think it has, I would respectfully have to say that you are dreaming....

A few indicators for me that it has taken off would be:

1. Hearing .mobi sites on television and/or radio ads
2. Hearing major .com's promoting their .mobi sites
3. Hearing people I know talking about .mobi's that they are visiting (or even that they know about .mobi!!!).
4. Seeing the mobile internet as a whole reaching more of a mass market.

Thanks for your specifics. #1 I too look forward to seeing mobi sites receive some serious Madison Avenue ad budgets. #2 is moving forward at a steady clip if you include all the corporate mobi sites that have come online since its inception in Sep 06. #3 I am already seeing it. #4 Convergence of better phones, better access plans and mobile friendly sites. Great timing for mobi IMO if there is something for people to look at other than parking pages. My friends have asked me why so many mobi sites look the same and they showed me a Sedo page. :'(

Devil Dog..that appears to be your whole portfolio. How many domains is that? What's the ROI? Do you own domains outside of mobi? Your sig shows a site which has 220 domains listed....are they all yours? Most appear parked at Namedrive. One has to wonder if your not totally full of it.
lol, thats one adult .mobi domain which is one word with ovt of 35k.

All those names are mine at e-nic and most are parked at namedrive.

What part of my post implies that "I am full of it?"

Ahh..looking closely one can see that you have blocked out the mobi domain name. I was having a difficult time trying to see if that screenshot was an entire portfolio.

And that's great you have a mobi making 50 cents a day via PPC. Care to share the domain name? I am very curious to know how premium the domain is for it to be earning that much.

They already do get good budgets from the major agencies. $15.00 - $30 CPM and sometimes alot more for US impressions.

Cool! But what I was aiming at was seeing the Geico commercial on TV or in a magazine ad telling customers how they can quickly look up a quote on their phone by going to geico.mobi.

edit, kind of like what garrett already said.

I can't see that happening unless it was a mobi pureplay. Geico won't add an extra 10 seconds to it's ad campaigns to say "hey if you are on a mobile device like your cell phone try Geico.mobi instead". Can you imagine filling out that long arse form from a cell phone? Why confuse consumers with advertising a mobi alongside your .com? NBA is a good example of how mobi can be used which is a side project of the .com with it's own content intended directly for mobile use.

What I really want to see is strong mobile only mobi pureplays that target directly the mobile user with a mobi domain. Most mobi sites are just small versions of a .com site and none that I have seen are original.

Actually I think that is a great example. As many of you probably know, dot Travel is open only to travel industry professionals and organizations. Many are being developed currently but hasn't been advertised much yet. It predates .mobi by about a year and sites are just coming up that are content rich and worth being promoted. When .travel was 8 months old there was nothing out there, but travel industry folks (especially tourist boards) are investing in it and are seeing it as a way to get quality URL's to use to promote their destinations. (BTW, canada.travel is a very nice site as well) If they all waited for the other guy to build theirs then nothing would happen with .travel.

Same is true for mobi. Mykel, you're a pioneer in mobi dev, and your vision, initiative and hard work is helping to make this tld have a future. I hope you profit richly in the process.

I agree Geico is a bad example. An auto quote on a cell phone would be painful (enter your VIN here..LOL!) It was the first example that came to mind of a TV ad I see way too often that promotes their website. NBA.mobi ads during the playoffs would be cool. I'm ok with corporate sites that mainly provide services to their existing members. THey may be dull but they serve a specific purpose and help to further awareness of the tld.

when I see AmericanIdol.mobi, that's also a good sign...

"...text your votes at AmericanIdol.mobi" (or "Idol.mobi" or whatever)

See...that's a perfect example of a mobi windfall. However I think they make money from the SMS so why should they use a mobi instead?

What they should do is after someone SMS votes they should send them back a text message with a link to an online portal where they could buy ringtones, chat, read idol news and more.

Nobody is looking at any .mobi sites anyway, so why does it matter if it's parked or not? They're not being looked at, developed OR parked. So I stick by what I said, having parked pages doesn't matter. Some of the most visited type in pages on .com are parked, earning their owners hundreds and in some cases thousands of dollars per month, and it doensn't hurt .com one tiny bit! And it won't hurt .mobi either, if it takes off. Parked pages have nothing to do with .mobi becoming popular or not.

Thats crap! Ive got over 3k hits on my Gulfbreeze.mobi site already and over 1500 on Kidcare.mobi. People are looking at .mobi sites they are just not looking at parked pages that you do not spend the time to promote. Ive submitted my sites on every search engine, forum, directory listing site I could find as well as other avenues and it has been paying off as far as exposure. I would say half of my hits are direct type ins. It does not just come if you do nothing you got to put in work.

Ok, I'll admit that the first part of what I said is reaching a tipping point: some .mobi's are starting to get a lot of traffic. BUT, the fact that some .mobi's are parked is not going to hurt the extension one way or the other.

Ok that sounds better. :hehe:
<analogy>
I look at my .mobi's like seeds. You can not just throw seeds in the garden and expect to get prize winning vegetables without watering ,fertilizing and spending time in the garden. In order to get good results you must put work and love into your garden. And how am I going to have a prize winning Tomato without entering it into a few fairs to get the exposure. No one is going to walk in my back yard and put a ribbon on my tomato plant while I'm not looking.

Pick up a shovel and start working on your .mobi today for good results!

I choose to park for now, but development may soon be in the works. That tipping point for me just hasn't come yet for the names that I have to make developing worth my while. Just a personal choice at this point, which I am entitled to make because I own them.

It's also a matter of quality of domains. You may have better names, which of course should be developed sooner.

I have one that is about to be transferred to me that I should probably develop immediately.
