The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I remember RJ saying about 10-15GBs daily.. ;)

Ya, and I wouldn't be surprised if thats on the lower end. If you look at Google, most pages are between 30K-90K in size, even if you say an average of 50K, multiply it by the 250,000 hits per day that it says on the advertising page, that alone is 12.5 GB per day. Its getting so high, that I have heard RJ mention in the past that he is going to have to get a second server pretty soon for NamePros. ;)

Remember that a many things about NamePros are cached. I believe all the avatars and page images are saved to a temp folder on your computer for faster browsing and lower bandwidth.

Having 2 servers for 1 site certainly is not a rare occurance many sites do this for load balancing. A freind of mine runs a service and has about 5 servers if I remember correctly.

I think 2 servers for NP would be great. Pages do load kind of slow right now.

Plenty of big sites have 2 or more servers to handle the bandwith. Google has thousands of servers in multiple data centers, so I don't know whats so hard to believe about 2...

No he doesnt run this site off a shared account, i think we can be pretty sure of that ;)

Didnt he say it running off a Dual Xeon dedi server :| . anyway, the site must use tons of bandwidth.

-----------------
12.5 x 7 = 87.5
87.5 x 4 = 350
350 x 12 = 4200
-----------------

So thats an adverage of 87.5 gig a week, 350 gig a month and a massive 4200 gig a year if jeter4982's right. WOW now thats alot a bandwidth.

thanks,

-ed

NamePros runs from a Dual Xeon at the EV1servers datacenter. It runs Ensim at the moment, but RJ is apparently planning to move out of EV1 in the near future, due to a few security breaches in the past... so stay tuned! :music:

As for having multiple servers, there's nothing special to it and quite necessary if there is a flood of resource usage. However, I believe Namepros itself runs on a single server, with powerful specs. Perhaps Scott can enlighten us with the details ;)
