How long for NameSilo domain to become available at auction?

I've been watching a domain at NamePal/NameSilo since it expired, and in the last 24 hours it's gone to Pending Delete status after exactly 75 days. However, I still don't see it in NameSilo's marketplace when I search for it. Shouldn't it be available in the marketplace as soon as it goes in Pending Delete, or am I missing something?

If its status is Pending Delete, it's way past the expired auction phase.

Pending Delete lasts for 5 days, then it drops. Either wait till then and try to hand reg it or place a back order for it.

I've been checking it since it expired and haven't seen it come up once, don't all expiring domains go to auction? How and where can I place a backorder, I was under the impression there were no backorders for Namesilo domains. It's not been on any of the usual dropcatching services.

Not all, depends on the registrar. And I don't know about Namesilo's as I don't use their auctions.

There are lots of places (like dropcatch.com). Once a domain drops, it's no longer a Namesilo (in this case) domain.

It's not been on any of the usual dropcatching services.

Where have you looked? Also, I have seen some take a day or so to show up.

I see what you mean, I suppose I erroneously believed that some places have auctions instead of dropcatching but I'm probably gettign confused with dropcatching services, I suppose all domains have to drop unless a dropcatching service like DropCatch sends them to auction instead.

I think this must be what happened, it wasn't on any last I checked but I just checked now and it's on both Snapnames and Catched. Thanks for the confirmation!

All domains drop after Pending Delete. It's just if a drop catching service gets it after, they (may) put it in an auction (different services have different procedures).

It sounds like you're pretty well sorted out.

Good luck getting the domain.

Depending on the TLD, a domain name at NameSilo can be deleted after more than 70 days. For example, .blackfriday domains are deleted after 220 days.

Let’s take it from the beginning:

When a domain expires, a few days after expiration it becomes available for auction/bidding until day 31:
https://www.namesilo.com/Marketplace

If there are bids, the domain is awarded to the highest bidder unless the previous owner renews it.

If the domain has no bids and the old owner still hasn’t renewed it, it enters the Restore Period (about 30 days), during which the previous owner can still renew it.

After the Restore Period, it moves to Pending Delete. During this phase, the domain can be caught by services such as catch.club.

From what I know, all expired domains at NameSilo go through the auction phase. If the current owner renews the domain during the Restore Period, it is returned to them.

Once the domain finally drops, drop-catching services try to acquire it and may run their own auction for the caught domain.

This is why I don't use their auctions.

Other registrars use a similar policy, but there’s a catch: the domain owner can only renew the domain up to 30 days after expiration.

To be 100% sure you’ll get the domain and the owner can no longer take it back, place your bid within the last 24 hours before the auction ends (it ends on day 31).

Good to know.
