Some people claim that some domains make more money undeveloped as a PPC page. What if you were to say own two domains ExtremeDrummer.com and Extreme-Drummer.com and develop the hyphened one ON PURPOSE. You can then reap in profits when users go to the non-hyphenated version.

Example: Ultimate-guitar.com is Alexa top 600 but some domainer bought Ultimateguitar.com for $100,000! Is it really that profitable if a non-developed site gets the traffic of a developed? It might make sense since when a user goes to a PPC site any link they click is profitable whereas in a developed forum people tend to be busy actually engaging in the topic instead of clicking ads :red:

The idea seems logical, the best of both worlds - i suppose

the people who buy these expensive names, or high priced, domains aren't generally stupid - so yes, i'd say it's, to an extent, it's worth it. in that example you mentioned

that works assuming that a lot of time and money is spent on development

i'm not sure if its profitable to develop a hyphenated domain for the sole intention of parking the non-hyphenated one

i've done that... INNUMERABLE times with www.online-stopwatch.com

that is actually a really good idea, but then you still need to put a lot of effort into developing one of them successfully XD

You can develop for free, as long as you have a unique idea.

I didn't mean that people should start developing a site specifically for that reason, but hey if you plan on development anyways why not. It gives a new light on hyphenated names. One is easier to read. The other is easier to type (and say.)

PPC is only a part of your income. If you have a well developed site Banner ads etc would contribute more. Specially when the number of users are very high.

So, why do you want your users to go to your other site and click on some PPC ad and reach your competitor.
