Do you think our businesses will be running some serious risks?

I don't think so, it would just make the Big 3 look even better. So if in the case that the new ones take off, it would just make the "original" extensions more and more valuable.

.COM has still a long way to go. 90 Million .COMs is nothing!! That figure will just edge further and further up as time goes by.

There are no big 3 globally, just the big 1 - .com Locally it's usually .com + ccTLD at best.

I think the new gTLDs will affect peak prices, even for .com, but not for a while, there is just too much money invested into development in existing extensions for existing domain / website owners to port.

Where it will make a difference will be the entry level or bootstrapped websites / businesses who want to use something brandable but don't want to spend $x,xxx on a good .com

As long you buy the dot com I don't think you have anything to worry about.

As usual many domainers will get burnt. Because new extensions fail most of the time. There is more money to be lost than won.

Exactly.

Also I can't see why .NET and .ORG can be ignored as being stable gTLDS. But to those who think a .whatever gTLD will work and knock .COM prices, invest your money there.

If there is no other gTLD other than .COM, and a ccTLD is next in line, then how does a ccTLD get into the argument? ccTLD=ccTLD, gTLD=.COM, .NET, .ORG, .WHATEEVER NEXT COMES. .NET and .ORG are both stable.

But yeah, guess if you believe ccTLDs ARE gTLD, then that's your choice.

I am responding coz people misinterpret my posts, and respond to what they wanna read instead of what is there. Why would I be so ignorant not to know that .COM is the best? lol

I wouldn't use the words "at best". I know of at least one country in which ccTLD is already much stronger than .com. I predict that ccTLD will become at least as strong as .com in most countries if it isn't already (except USA).
