We can push an extension to a new level?

Let's say for instance .pro, Us Domainers do you think we can push it to be popular if we all get together and start charging way more for an extension like that or is it a "trend"/"consumer" thing?

I think it's possible to do it, I know .com is King, but I think us Domainers we have a little power to convert an extension into the new thing.

If and only if sites are developed with the extension. Too many times, domainers have tried to hype up an extension and buy up names, only for the extension to actually lose mainstream popularity because of the lack of developed sites (see .eu, .asia, .mobi).

It's too early to tell, but it will most likely happen to .me unless everybody that bought up these names starts making them useful.
