How do you keep track of all your domain names, folks?

I use excel ATM, but dream of having something like iTunes setup,
where you can rearrange by genre (extension), song length (expiry date) etc, etc...... :)

Anyone know of anything that comes close?

Yes sir! :)

Notepad and a piece of paper for me. Neither have my full list.
I don't have a very good memory but I usually can manage to remember about 10 of my best names. The rest.... who knows?

I kinda like the surprise when I login to the registrar - "I didn't know I had that one!" or "ooh, I should do something good with that one!"
It keeps me on my toes :hehe:

Try SV's portfolio script - it's pretty decent. http://www.namepros.com/for-sale-advertising-board/189789-domain-name-portfolio-script.html

i just use an excel document but it is very crowded and i forget most of the time to add new names on. Plus i have not put expiry dates on it so it is kinda useless!

A simple text file. I hope I won't need something more powerful than that (I have around 85 domains and I don't plan to have more than 100)

I use my nameserver's zones definitions :)

In addition, once a month, I keep an eye on all my registrars Website to figure out what domains will expire soon, and optionally renew them.

I made a MySQL database to maintain them, but never filled it - as usual :hehe:

I use excel too. With all the expiry dates, renew fees, sold prices and even the buyers or sellers' full names, usernames on NP and contacts.
It is pretty organized. I can see when and what domains are going to expire and if they pay off by PPC.

I use excel as well. I haven't found a program that does well with cctlds. If I only had tlds to worry about, I would use domaintools' domain manager.

i think the only thing that will make me get more organised is when i accidently forget to renew one of my good names - im not gonna let that happen - im gonna go through each name and find the registrar and expiry dates of them before i regret it :)

This can definitely be done in excel.. I could use something like this also. When I get off of work (if I remember), I'll make a spreadsheet template and post here.

I used a txt doc to keep track of them. Not the best way but it works for only 50 or so domains

I use Excel's List Manager feature.
Great for finding, sorting, etc.

Organise

Organise? Or, organize (USA) Ha!! What does that mean?? :yell:

I organize my domains, by going to my registrar, logging in, look at my domains, and hit than magic button called "PRINT".

Now, I really get serious, by doing this with each registrar!! Yup, a "list" of domains from 4, maybe even 5, different registrars! Whew, what a bunch of work, I am tired even thinking about it. Maybe 15, 20 pages, by the time I am done. :) Time for a nap......

Then, to make it all official and stuff, I might staple the sheets into a "package". Kinda, like a resume.
Then, to impress my friends, I might even use a hole punch, and put then in one of those fancy folders from Walmart... you know , like$1.69, or so. I know, I know, too high tech... Next you'll want me to use one of those little flash drive thingys.

:hehe:

I'm not particularly worried about โ€œorganizingโ€ my portfolio. Sorting by extension isn't a big thing for me because I only have a handful of names that I don't have the com for. I keep a a few lists of names a text files I can grep, but I only update them a few times a year when I actually want to search through the names for something. As someone else mentioned, the zone files, either your own, or the TLD ones are a great ready reckoner.

I would never rely on an application for expiry date information. I log into each registrar a few times a month and check there. I'm not the slightest bit interested in loosing a $xxK name because the date was typed wrong, US format, etc.

Back in the day I used to have an access database on my notebook with all my domains categorized and what not. It was really impressive to show people but I don't think it ever made me a sale, and it certainly didn't do anything for me.
