How do I start earning....

Hello everyone,

My name is Fadia and I started a website 1/26/06 called SorryAssBabyDaddies .com also known as www . DaddyDontWantMe. com well the site has gotten a good a mount of traffic somewhere north of 7,000,000 hits but I don't receive revenue I get money sometimes from the women who post there stories but thats not at all incom.

Now I went to buy dot com and set up an advertising acct but that seemed like a ripp off because they only pay you if people signed up with there companies. also I had google ads on my site for two years and still only have 27 dollars in the acct. what am I doing wrong?

Well, my first guess would be that the kind of traffic you're getting isn't the kind that's going to stop and shop with ads on your site.

For example. A site about designer purses is going to attract women who love fashion. She's going to click that link that says get a designer purse half price.

But people visiting your site, I would venture to say, are probably angry, maybe struggling financially, I don't see them stopping to say, wow, I'll check out this link in this ad.

The truth is, not all sites make money. Some sites you run for love. I'd suggest putting a Paypal Donation button on the site. You're more likely to get people donating to support the cause than you would make any other way.

To be honest the audience that is targeted, as DDC_Cyn, really are not going to click on ads.

I think you need to think about a redesign to your site. Possibly change the name as well. Don't worry about the visitors and the Domain name. You can get that redirected. It needs to be something more attractive and possible in the .org extension. If you make a more appealing to all types or mothers or kids then im sure you will get supports in all communities not just the very targeted community you are currently after.

Also provide some good and unique content that can help the people that are looking for more information about this type of thing, not just links. Clean up some of the language and such to make it more appealing as well.

As for making money off this site, I would imagine the money would be bleak. Just because of the type of site and the audience about the best thing you could do was sell some advertising to lawyers or something to that effect.

I'm glad someone else made some comments first. I think the site is not too bad, but needs some refinement. You have done a great job so far, but if you want to take your site to the next level then you are going to have to work with a consultant, or get a number of people to help you.

Your site has a great purpose, but if you don't want it to just be a "rant site" you need to become more of an authority on the subject. That is, "who are these people"? If you are serious about the site, you might want to consider filing to become a non-profit organization. Check TechSoup.org for some information that may help.

You DO have original content in the stories that are on your site. The problem is that you have them mostly on one big page. You should create one page for each story. And the stories can be longer. I searched in Google for "deadbeat dads" and there are a lot of lawyer ads. Start using that phrase more and Google will get better ads on your site. I'm a midwest white guy and I never heard the term "Baby Daddies" before. So if you want to reach as many people as possible, you need to expand the language used on your site.

One thing that will help a LOT is if you learn what SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is. From what I saw, even some basic SEO will increase your traffic quite a bit. Put the AdSense on all your pages but NEVER have any text about the ads on the site. You don't want to have anything that might be seen as encouraging people to click on ads just to help your site, that's stealing and can get your account closed. But you can put the ads on your site like you see them on other sites. Blend in the colors, but make sure even a quick look at the top of your page includes some ads. Many of our sites seem to make most of their money from people that thought our site was something else. When they visit the site and see what it really is, they leave. Make sure they have ads that will give them an option to leave by an ad they are interested in, and not by using the "back" button.

This is good advice thanks guys I just wanted to say that the traffic I get to

DaddyDontWantMe .com is all types from women on welfare to wealthy white women and men.

One of my stories is of a well to do middle age African American woman who had a baby with an NBA player who never paid her child support.

I could go on I guess i made this statement because some people are under the impression that these women are all poor and few and far between but this is a 100billion dollar child support deficit in the USA alone so this is just not a poor peoples problem.

I do have a lot of work that I need to do to the site and I will in due time.
