How do I sell a name for someone?

how should I go about selling a name for someone who has asked me to find them a buyer?
I feel the names are pretty good and would be worth trying

my concerns:
-if i list it for appraisal and someone wants it they can just bypass me altogether, so how can i go about this
-what is a standard cut to take
-is there anyway i can be involved in the escrow process to secure my commission?

why did someone ask you to sell their domain name? is it because your their friend? business deals can mess up a friendship. in business you sign a contract that for a certain period of time (like 6 months) if any person that YOU appoached as a salesman (in this case introduced these names to) buy something, you get a set percentage of the total sale. i would think its at least 10% you may not want to go through the process of setting up a contract, but its the only legal way i can think of that you can get money out of this because the moment you tell somebody the name, they can do the deal without you. Hopeful others will add to these general thought

I suggest you send a Private Message to "Spade". He's a member of this forum and he's got good skills in negotiation. He does charge a % fee for brokering domains. You could ask him for some help in guidance. Or share the % commission between you and him. You take your % for finding the seller, and he takes the % for finding the buyer.

Its not a friend, i did try that and yeah its not really the best idea
The seller is someone who just bought a name from me, been transfered just waiting for release from escrow
says he has "a few" names to sell, but domain tools says he has about 800+ :hehe:
yes i guess a contract is the best way to go, if he doesnt keep his part then guess im just not dealing with him anymore
