Be sure to visit the Newbie section--lots of good info there regarding registering domains:

ICANN's list of accredited registrars:

Typically .com is your best bet. But you shouldn't settle for just any domain name just because it's available. Sometimes other extensions offer better keywords.

Before registering anything, you should read through the newbie section and the rest of the forum--I wish I had two years ago.



And if you're buying a domain for a new business, you might want to use a domain broker to buy on the aftermarket. If you're new at this, buying on the aftermarket can be tricky and frustrating.
