How do I become a domain registrar?

How do I become my own domain name registrar? (like snapnames, pool, namewinner...to grab expired domains)
How much will it cost me?
What are the steps (procedures) that I need to take in order to become a registrar? :gl:

Wow, 2500$? Sounds like a lot at first, then you relize, DUH, it's not too hard to make that xP

$2,500 is just for the application fee, which you'll lose if they turn down your application. To get your application approved, you would need to show that you have a good business plan, adequate equipment, substantial financial reserves, and an organization of DNS experts and support staff. All these would run you into much, much more than your $2,500.

Wow! I didn't know it was that much. Sort of makes sense though - It would would out some of the non-serious people who might cause trouble for others. Not too good for the serious ones though with a good business plan but not enough financial backing.

Probabably closer to $$$,$$$ than $$$.

That's if you want to be an "ICANN accredited registrar". You can be a reseller for accredited regsitrars with only a fraction of the startup cost.
