I always wondered that, where come out the $$$ for porn sites?
There are a lot of Porn on the web, and much is for free too. I haven't saw ads (ok, for what I could see) I saw there are paysites, but I don't know if people sign up there, paying fees, with a lot of the same thing to see for free.
Also fees seems to be very low, so even having thousand subscribers I don't think would be possible to cover the general maintenance costs, included servers, pc, designers, webmaster.....and then I imagine that also the material to publish should have some cost.
Can someone explain this thing?

I noticed that most hosting service does not allow porn material, how easy is it to find a hosting?

Lets face it, everyone has it in some form or another so.. Sex sells. End of story.

I agree sex sites sells, but definitely NOT the number one best seller on the web.

Yahoo is the number one most visited site, and not sex.com. Wholesome or family entertainment is topgrosser, and NOT sex themed ones.

Not sure when the last time it was you visited a Yahoo chatroom but the last time I did I was bombarded by sex selling bots not wholesome family members or companies offering me products.. But then again mabey I was.

thought google was most of yahoo?
Some data please, a source please?

People is actracted by sex , for a reason or another, at various stages of the life, but luckely not everybody are so morbous to be actract more than a represention of it and by fictiont than the real thing itself...
If sex sites would be the most visited we would be really ruined (as race I mean)and not because of sex itself, it would be the same if instead of sex would be one and just one variety of fruit... let imagine all the people madly looking only for bananas all the time :)

Google is the most preferred search engine than Yahoo search. Yahoo is number one in the area of portal sites.

The wholesome or family entertainment i was referring in my previous post was not Yahoo, its the entertainment as a whole. Movies like Incredibles, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park are money earners beating sexual themed movies by a wide stretch.

Sex can do more harm than good IMO.

What's the number one movie?

Zorro, with a little sex, fall behind.

Hi Diddie,

I think you have a wrong rebuttal.

I was trying to prove that the most visited sites on the web are not porn sites. Yahoo happened to be the most visited site at this very hour.

Bill Gates the richest man, made millions not by selling sex ( will somebody prove me wrong :hehe: ), he buys sex! :p

There are those who specialise in it. And there are plenty, if you know where to look.

You wouldn't want to pay for a webhost without know EXACTLY it is that you intend to do. If you were to host free movie galleries (which give people a ten second or more taste of a video before clicking on the link to go and get more, and pay for it) then you could burn through 30 gig of bandwidth a month easily. Though I've heard some suggest that you have 150 gig if you intend to do it seriously (pay for some spots at some sites and get a lot of visitors). Mind you that 30+ gig for the month is used in a day or two.

Yes it does, but Genialnames wanted to know how.

Depending on a persons experience they could say "I can't believe anyone would pay for it, therefore it can't be making money" to "Sex sells. End of story".

While your opinion is correct it doesn't hurt to explore why and how.

Mind you, my experience is half a step above observation. I've made more money through Google AdSense than I have from cheques from CC Bill.

i know yahoo is #1 on alexa, what i wanted to say is that all porn web sites represents a lot of visits and i think more than yahoo alone

my point is just that you cannot compare both, yahoo is a free basic internet services website or tool (and a search engine, #2 or 3 after google), its like comparing all USPS offices with all Sex shops of the world

And suffice to say there are a lot of people using both google and yahoo to do searches for keywords such as sex and porn which ultimately lead them to the type of sites that Genialnames is asking about.

Though I'm yet to hear of someone going to say www.booble.net trying to find google or yahoo. :P

:)

Porn and Music is supposedly the biggest thing online, I believe it, just look around, both are everywhere, online and off.

Theres lots of free porn on the net and most of the free stuff sucks thus porn addicts have to pay and will continue to pay for quality porn, 30 sec. clips and thumbnails aint gonna cut it.

Yeah you'll never be able to convince me sex can do more harm than good. It can in some situations sure but in most it invented the word good, great for that matter. :)

My city for example about 8 years ago passed a law regarding strip clubs. I won;t get into the law but it was nonsense to say the least. For the entire 8 years they have been tied up in court spending countless amounts of tax payers money to defend "What they and the bible beaters pushing the issue think is right."

A few months back the clubs dropped their suit. Why did they do it? Well the city finally came to the realization that if they enforced the law they would lose millions in taxes from conventions since this is a key factor for the planners of conventions when looking at holding an event in a certain city.

In addition no matter what their beliefs may be they can't decide on what adults do with their own time and money. So the new proposed amendment to the law will allow for alcohol to be sold in the clubs so they can be regulated and in tirn generate more tax money for the city..

To sum it up even my city realizes, sex sells..

Again, why the Average Joe would pay if can achieve the same for free? (knowing the average Joe's attitude).

I would suggest the following:

1. You are a"technology" person and you understand how to manuever the Internet, how to search effectivly and leverage this to your financial advantage...i.e. Free Porn.

2. Average Joe doesnt have this knowledge. He searches for "Porn" or some other term for 20 minutes looking at the teasers and then with his coc...rather , credit card in hand makes a purchase.

and remember...there is a never ending supply of young men willing to spend a few bucks.

there is no money in porn unless you shoot your own content.

Those sites aren't very expensive IMO. Personally, I've never signed up for one but I've seen what they charge.

Well if you want to make money in porn....join affiliate groups....buy a top level domain....and the CLICKS WILL COME! Most affiliate programs with porn sites offer 50/50 profit share recurring...which means is you sell 1000 memberships a month and if most members retain the membership for the full term...well lets add this up...1000 joins....at $29.00..well lets round that off to to $30....with 50/50 ref share....thats a whopping $15,000.00....fifteen thousand dollars a month in your pocket. The web is flooded with affiliates....so a top level domain name is likely the only way to make cash in porn at this time.
