Is that a serious question ? there is no comparing NewYork Business and Business.tv
I am not agreeing with $500,000 but Verisign owns the name, it really is the way domainers should think of premiums. No one tells you what you can ask for your names, all unregistered premiums are Verisigns names. It only cost them $45 million plus yearly payouts to Tuvalu for the right.

no comparing?

How about comparing the word business and the extension .tv?

Yes I know that "business" spans a wider spectrum than does "newyorkbusiness". Having said that, I would like to know what you think
the $value would be for newyorkbusiness.tv given the price of $500,000 per/year for business.tv.

Thanks EQ

I do not think that is a bad niche for non premium take the top financial markets around the world

Newyorkbusiness.tv
LondonBusiness.tv
ParisBusiness.tv
TokyoBusiness.tv
HongKongBusiness.tv

etc...

The price Verisign wants for Business.tv makes it an end user purchase and nothing else. So a niche within business could be worthwhile IMO. Not a recommendation, but for those wanting a business play could be worthwhile is all I am saying.

How can business.tv be asking $500,000 a year when you can register
newyorkbusiness.tv for $24.95?

They can ask whatever they want for business.tv, it's up to them. It's one of the top generic keywords out there & they want to target endusers that will develop the name, not domainers.

business.tv & newyorkbusiness.tv can't be compared at all, they're no where near the quality of each other.

We all know that the list price for Business.tv is a joke. It's worth closer to $50,000 but even that seems a little high to me.

Interestingly, I've been reading some of the comments from the so-called expert appraisers here on Namepros and many of them use Estibot as a basis and then adjust from there.

Let's look at the Estibot basis:

Business.tv = $46,000
Newyorkbusiness.tv = Reg Fee

Using this basis, I (as a rookie appraiser) would tend to think that $46,000 is about right to a little high and Reg fee for the second domain is on the low side, but not by much.

as a rookie appraiser

Rick Schwartz says that domain appraisals are useless, period!

I appreciate your rookie appraisal of the 2 domains in question, however, I kindly disagree.

All the best.

Rick is just like everyone else....he has an opinion. Granted, he is more of an "expert" then a lot of us, but he is still just human.

Not saying appraisals are useful, just saying that his opinion is not the word of god.

Appraisals are only good to have a feel of what other people who gives their opinions might pay for that domain. We all know that a domain can sell for any price, even if nearly everyone thinks the name is worthless.

For those that think that appraisals are useless:

They may not be 100% accurate and often inaccurate. But saying that appraisals are "useless" is an outright stretch.
