Hello,
I heard many times that domain names were stoleN and such things. Thanks God something like that haven't happens to me(all my domains locked) but i would like to ask:
For example i have a domain not locked, someone goes to transfer my domain, he/she will need my mail password so how can he/she steal my domain? He/She can't! Right?

Because I always wondered how can be domains stolen if they are active too, the stealer should know the email password, right?

could you answer?
thanks,
monrA :bah:

They can be stolen if they know your password. Also I believe there was an exploit awhile back that allowed an unlocked domain to be transfered without a password. That was fixed if I remember correctly.

The best way to so called "steal" a domain name is transfer it to you if it is not locked, or if someone puts in faulty whois info you can have the domain name shut down, and then you reg it.

That did happen a while back but it wasnt totally fixed...All the person has to

do to steal your domain...Is to get the pass. and transfer it. Because of

transefering you can trace him back thought..

Simply this:

1. Make sure your domain name is on Registrar-Lock. Check your domain's
WHOIS or log inside your domain control panel and see if there's an option to
do so.

If you still can't find it, contact your registrar and ask how.

2. Make sure your WHOIS email on record is valid and secure.

3. Make sure your computer is secure as well.

Got it? :)

It may be best to Post ways to Prevent it happening :imho:
Use the NamePros Search Box at the top of all pages to search for "Stolen" or "Stolen Domain" to find more helpful links ~
