I was wondering if registar's could steal your domain? , lets say you had a website like sitepoint having allot of traffic going to it and worth allot of money, could the registars steal your domain from you and how could you prove you owned it ?

another thing can people make false abuse requests to enom and have your domain taken away from you?

People have made various complaints about registrar's shutting down their accounts and preventing them access to their domains. I don't have any personal experience from this, but I believe that other NP members do.

ALWAYS buy from respectable (trusted) registrars ... there is a bigger chance that they are law-abiding , they have a reputation to protect and there is a greatly smaller chance that they'll think of scamming people (like a small reseller might think of doing)

ALWAYS keep the receipt of your domain purchases ...

your details are also stored in the registry and in WHOIS history and these can act as proof in a possible malicious case ...

if there is a problem report the registrar to ICANN ... but make sure that's what happened and that you have some proof that you did own the domain ...

if there is a false report of a abuse , the registrar will investigate first before they cancel the domain ... if you are legit , in the worst case scenario you will just have some downtime (not be able to use your domain) until the case is investigated ... if there is nothing illegal when they first investigate , probably there won't even be any downtime ...

Yes, technically they can. You would have to sue them in court.

I keep all my DNs with one registrar. Easier that way right?

I also keep every order reciept and I use my Credit Card so that I have that reciept as well.
