How Are C&D Letters Sent?

I use WHOIS privacy services for my domains, and was just wondering how C&D letters would be sent if I ever attracted the attention of some company. Are they usually postal letters or e-mails?

if u are under private registration, they will contact ur registrar for further query, later on registrar will pass on the email to you.
