Looks like some amazing names were picked up this last week and congrats on the new buyers. With these names now $25 renewal what do you think they are worth now?

I believe there were eight nice domain drops that morning. I was up at 4AM with three accounts open - Godaddy, ENOM and Name trying to hand reg at least one. No luck. Six months ago I would have picked up half of the .TV drops that didn't have premium renewals. I suspect a few of them got repriced to $XXX to acquire even on the drop. There are now so many individuals following .TV the only way to pick up a decent drop is via backorder. IMO those mentioned are worth four figures to the right end user long term perhaps an end user might be willing to pay up to low five figures.

I hope they get developed and not wasted in parking land. The value of the domains is directly related to their use. I hope Brandlab comes up with something good for Resort.TV!

Parked = Not more than any other premium .TV domain.
Developed = Priceless

You have to backorder to even have the slightest chance these days! We gave up on hand regs after March 18th 2010.

It's got very competitive. I backorder some of my premiums myself and if I don't get them, I will feel like the guy who's wife took his money and ran off with another dude who had no investment:)

Thanks, Jim

I guess it depends what you aim for. We consider Resort and Medicine (or any of the other domains posted by the OP) good domains and you won't handreg those when dropday comes around :)

for sure, specific names were prebackordered at name
and of course cannot beat them with the time limits that API have (1hit/sec)

But have received offers for domains that catched my self at drop, so do not complain :)

Names with potential like resort and hotel have chances only at backordering and i hope that sales of such good domains with normal renewal fee now at high prices will give a boost at .tv market

I thought Tulsa.tv was some great developed site in the past. Also, Chicago.tv the owner wanted $250,000 when I e-mail him 2 years ago and he had some big offers at that time. That is in the top 3 Geo's in United States behind only NewYork.tv, LA.tv.

Sad if true, then again a lot of the offers talked about back then were pretty suspect.

They certainly did have offers but they disappeared. I dont know who else was at the table but I made several over the last year.

Even as the market was obviously declining and the offers got smaller no offer was ever enough. They always wanted more and claimed that others we're ready to give more than what was on the table. Their final counter sounded more like a ransom demand then a negotiation, seriously. It was like "we want xxxxx or we let the name delete", which sounds a lot like "give us xxxxx or we kill the kid". Fd up thing was it was obviously still their kid, right?

Greed makes people do really stupid things sometimes. Or maybe it was just pride. Whatever it was they could have walked away having recovered every dime spent on reg fees and a few bucks extra and instead they got nothing. Very sad.

I will add this- one partner was much more reasonable than the other but in the end his hands were tied. Another good reason to avoid "partnerships" like the plague.

As for me I have a couple of great alternative names for the Chicago market and could care less about paying a lot for it.

People say some strange things at times to try and sell a name, sounds like the last desperate act.

It is probably a bit both, greed rejecting everything when the offers were hot (I think we are probably all a bit guilty of that), and likely mixed with pride not accepting a lower price as the market fell. Just crazy trying to hold out in a declining market on a name they can't afford to hang on to.

Under the old structure is it was probably more an liability than anything anyway.
