I would definitely go for HostGator. It has a great support team and they are very responsive and located in the US with real people 24/7. :)

I've only tried hostmonster till now. Hostmonster is great. But hostgator is more popular I guess. Must be of because of their support service but hostmonster's support is not bad either. I think the only thing that separates them is their price.

I have a quick question, lets see if anyone can answer it. I have hostgator. The first month with all the fees and that I had to pay $13 something for a hatchling account. But then I figured THIS month I would have to pay the $4.95, ya know the price FOR the hatchling account. And well, they sent me an invoice for $8.95 so Im just wondering whats up. I purposely left the money in my account someone gave me cuz it was $5 for this and now its NOT $4.95 lol. Whats up?

NM i figured it out. Apparently I didnt read the fine fine fine print on the site lol

I've been with hostmonster for awhile and I'm a pretty huge fan. They've always gotten back to me pretty quick when I've had questions (friendly too). Never tried hostgator, so like a lot of others, it's a one-sided response.

But I'm happy with Hostmonster and don't plan on moving any time soon :)

Hostgator unless you are hosting proxies, file host, image host, warez ,etc.

i use hostmonster and i am absolutely enamored. unmetered bandwidth/storage, a ridiculous amount of ftp/email/mysql/addon domains/subdomains, php/mysql/cgi/plethora of scripts such as phpbb/etc, cpanel access, even ssh. there isn't much more you can ask for from a host. all that, plus they have one of the best customer services i've ever come across. whenever i used their live help, i was connected with an assistant within 5 minutes and they always gave me extremely helpful answers and were always very courteous. emails were replied to within 2 hours and any account changes i needed (such as ssl installation, upgrade to dedicated ip, etc) were done on the spot via live support. especialyl at the price for all this ($4.95 if you google a little and find the promo link), i'm just rendered speechless.

of course, once again, i haven't tried hostgator so can't say anything about them.

Anyone know how to enter coupons at hostgator once your first month is over? or to purchase longterm hosting, I ordered the $9.95 account, and paid 1 cent for the first month, now I pay 9.95 per month, is there any other way to enter coupons so i an get 20% off or something, or pay for a lump sum long term payment.

Thank You

This question sounded like: 'what is better Apple or Pear?'

One will say an Apple for sure, it is very useful and and tasty!

But the another will say, why apple? Pear is better, it is easier to bite it! It also reminds a bulb!

The OP should have started a poll, if he'd like to know statistics of use and preferrings, but even this is not the way to know what is really better...

The coupons works only when you register the first time with them. You should cancel the account with them and sign up again and this time use the 20% off coupon. (I could get you a $40 rebate also)

You can request with their customer service mentioning you are just testing for first month and wish to continue with them with promotion.
