Hostgator Dedicated Server. Reviews?

Anyone have a dedicated server with them? I am interested in getting the basic one, $174/month.

Questions:

1. Anyone have a dedi with them?

2. Anyone know if I can get a cheaper price from them?

3. Anything else I should know about them?

Well if you look at the hostgator dedicated, I really like what they offer as far as managed server. You get a lot of bells and whistles for the money it seems.

I use their different packages www.apthost.com for some of our sites. haven't tried their dedis but service is pretty good.

I tried Hostgator's self-managed dedi. Service was worst. They took almost a week to replace the broken hardware

We previously had a dedicated with Hostgator but after selling the site on the dedicated we purchased a hosting plan from them for the small sites. They were very good when we had the dedicated and are just as responsive with the hosting package.

They are always available through live chat, tickets are answered rather quickly and problems with the server were extremely rare. They were a bit higher priced then some of the other dedicated servers, but they gave me a good feel when I was looking.

So all in all, I would give a thumbs up to them for dedicated.

HostGator having promotion now until May 1. I have read many review about them, they are providing quality services.

I'd say to you, Jason, that don't go with such a big company for a dedi.
They're guaranteed to oversell on Low end packages, such as Shared and Reseller, so what's to stop them shirking on the hardware quality for a dedicated?

I'd highly recommend finding a "smallish" company and getting a dedi with them, a company renowned for overselling and poor support is a bad idea.

I ended up going with WDServers as I was looking for a good price for proxy hosting.
